Girl Scouts to Discontinue Two Cookie Flavors and Raise Prices

Jan 8, 2025

The Girl Scout cookie season has begun, but two popular flavors, S’mores and Toast-Yay!, will be discontinued after this year. These cookies join the retired Raspberry Rally flavor, which caused a frenzy when it was sold out and resold online at high prices.

S’mores, introduced in 2017, and the French toast-inspired Toast-Yay!, launched in 2021, are being retired as part of the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) strategy to refresh its lineup.

Rising Cookie Prices

Amid inflation and rising costs, cookie prices could increase to $7 per box, up from previous years. Local councils set prices based on production costs, and specialty cookies like gluten-free options may cost more.

Beloved Cookies Still Available

Favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs remain on the menu. Cookies will be sold at booths and online through the official Girl Scouts of the USA website.

Membership Fees on the Rise

To address financial challenges, the Girl Scouts are raising membership fees, with dues increasing in stages over the next few years. Membership revenue is a key funding source, generating millions annually, but the organization still faces projected operating losses.
